Roofing question

Adding more feathers to my contractor cap, but practicing on my place to perfect my technique.

I put a covered porch on the front of our house and wove the old (two months) into the new. I've got two leaks on one side that trail from the top but do not see from where on the topside.

Without tearing onto it, anyone with more experience have any suggestions on signs to look for?

The top meaning "of the porch where you wove them" or the top of the two month old roof? Also, what was used as the roofing material?

Asphalt shingles with 30lbthe felt as a cold roof.

By top I mean walking on the roof, looking down, I know where the eater is coming from underneath, but I do no see evident signs of pooling for water yo work underneath.
