Spark Plug wire removal

Having only 8k miles, I doubt that she needs the plugs even checked, BUT I do have the radiator pulled, and ALL the body work pulled at this point, plus I have the new plugs on hand, so I'm aiming to replace the plugs while I'm "in there."
That said, I cannot get the ignition coils off & out! I'm doing the standard pull & twist. the coils will twist just fine, put will not pull out of the holes/ off the plugs. WTF? If I wasn't countering the pull on the coil with a firm downward push on the valve cover, i'd pull the whole bike right off the damn stands (what's left of the bike). Maybe I'm just being a pussy, but when I have to put this much force to something, I stop and confirm that I'm doing it correctly, before I break something... So, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me of any tricks you know of, yada, yada! (This is my 1st experience with these Yamaha ignition coils.
Thanks!!
