Squid Video............Must be a Good Story Behind This One!!!

In my Youtube addiction to all things motorcycle over the last year I've seen a few of these videos. I've also even become Facebook friends with some of the riders because of their other YT motovlogs. It definitely attracts the wheelie crowd and the "F the Police" crowd.

The Event: Ride of the Century, takes place around labor day weekend every year since the early 2000s. It was originally organized by a local group of stunters. Then has grown each year till 2011 when it blew up and they estimated 2,500 bikers there. I think in 2013 I saw they estimated close to 4,000 bikers/stunters there. Massive motorcycle ride prompts second thoughts by police : News

In 2013 the ROC was the most regulated. Including running license, registration and insurance of riders before they were let out on the road. Impounding bikes without probably cause. Worst of all there were 2 fatalities. Both involved situations were motorcyclist struck cars, one of which was an unmarked police car that may or may not have used their care to attempt to slow/stop the motorcyclist. I doubt we will ever see the actual truth on this considering it could be taken as vehicular homicide.

I personally like this video because it shows the nicer side of the ride. You have two young brothers out for a spectacle

Thanks
Like I said - when I first made this thread - I was kind of asking everyone if they knew anything. LOL Which in return they posted "This video makes no sense without a story" :cheerleader: RIGHT!!!!
LOL
So I appreciate you giving some more info.
I was really happy to find the vid just above your post. It looks like the ROC guys were riding down the freeway and there was a roadblock ahead. So they doubled backed and ran the wrong way down (or up) and "On Ramp" to the freeway. That is where we saw the police come in from behind. They were closing the net on the roadblock. That's when all the fun started.
LOL
Well it took a while but it's good to get more info on the story.

OK - WHen I 1st posted this there was NO info on it at all. So here is a little more video that shows more of the story. Sorry it's live link - NO embedding.

I was re-watching this video and I have to say that was a pretty poorly set up road block. I'm NOT bashing the cops or talking about right vs wrong police tactics. I'm saying it was flawed by design. When you set up a roadblock you want to set up an a situation where no one can get away. This was a pretty easy escape for the riders. :disapproval:

I am not real big on stunting on public roads but here is the FB page for The Ride of the Century. Pretty sure this is the one that Ssky was referring to..........

I guess that pretty well sums it up. When I made this thread I had no idea what happened there.......I guess we have the whole story now.

I wonder what is going to happen in 2014?
