What did you do to your Non-FZ1 motorcycle today.

Got her a little dirty

Nice start to April.

IMG_0033.jpg

Looking for Little Red Riding Hood.

IMG_0036.jpg

Traffic Was hell.

IMG_0037.jpg

Still some swampy stuff around, but no surprise at this time of year.

Checked out some serious hardware.

I finally got out Saturday on the speed triple for a first truly spirited ride. I love the bike and have never been happier with a set of tires. The Battleax S21 tires are awesome.

Ordered some tech spec tank pads. I definitely was not getting any grip with my thighs this past weekend. This will make it so much better.

Low Beam replacement

After 45,600 kms, my low beam died (on the way to work in the dark). I have had to replace the high beam once in 102,200 kms, but this is the third low beam. I blame it on the off-road that I do. Just put in an H7 Ultra Sylvania.

Added to the odometer

A full day riding today;
IMG_0042.jpg

Early morning solo exploring on the way to meet the guys.

IMG_0045.jpg

IMG_0047.jpg

Turned back by an illegal locked gate.

IMG_0050.jpg

The old wood decked single lane bridge at Cochrane Alberta.

At the meeting place, Warren texted me saying he had a flat along the way. We blasted off to the rescue. Obviously he was never a Boy-Scout, since he had not packed his patch kit or a spare tube. Both Ian and I did, so it didn't take long to get him fixed up. He had tied his bike to the fence to hold up the rear with just a side-stand.

Afterwards we headed out to the dry river bed north of Waiprous Alberta to play in the rocks.

IMG_0055.jpg

Still snow on the creek on the way up.

IMG_0059.jpg

Taking a break above the river valley.

IMG_0060.jpg

Bad Idea, but yes I did cross it. Damaged road bed from the big flood a few years ago. 10 foot drop on each side. Screwing up your line here would have serious consequences.

IMG_0063.jpg

IMG_0071.jpg

It did for this guy.

IMG_0067.jpg

IMG_0068.jpg

IMG_0074.jpg

The guys enjoying the terrain and solitude.

IMG_0072.jpg

Scenery wasn't too bad either.

IMG_0076.jpg

Played around on forgotten road allowances on the way home.

My steering bearings got a tightening up yesterday as I've been struggling with a floppy feeling front end. I went over the bike this week and checked bolts & bearings and what-not. Everything seemed good but I had my friend/mechanic give my bike a once-over for some peace of mind and he gave me the thumbs up. Now I just need a new rear shock!

Took it to the woods

Dodged trees and rocks and ruts with it.

IMG_0106.jpg

Had to get there first.

The first 100 meters were very steep, before climbing out of the dip.

IMG_0090.jpg

This was an exception to otherwise; freakishly-dry trails for this time of year. It doesn't bode well for fire season.

Got Really Dusty

Went for a group ride with 8 other guys today. Great weather, but DUSTY, and deep fresh gravel everywhere!!

IMG_0118.jpg

A farmer had plowed under one short section of road. Disked but not planted. We stayed on the tracks that his truck had left. Still a challenge.

One last stop before heading our separate ways. One Yamaha, 2 Suzukis, two BMWs and 4 KTMs.

We had a Pro photographer and an EMT along. I look forward to seeing his pictures (kind of) and we did not need the services of the paramedic thankfully.

Of course! Just trying to be humorous. It was nice having them on for my test ride whilst I adjusted the new ones. I got the CRG.

Hey, some people hate blindspots....... Not here to judge.

Well, I sold the ZZR and bought one even bigger! Went to NJ and bought a 2011 Concours! Its still in the back of my truck at home since I drove from South Jersey to Northern MI yesterday. Didn't leave until just after 10:00am and got home at 10:00 pm....795 miles later!
