Hi Guys,
I 'm new to the forum and I really hope someone can help me out on this one!
I've owned my FZ1 for the last 18 months and I love it to bits.... however a couple of months ago when I got to start it up in the morning:
1. the "HI" temperature starts flashing and the bike wont start (it's cold in the morning)
2. the fuel pump does not start
3. the engine will turn over but won't start running
I recharged the battery and it worked fine. However after a week it did it again, jumped it off another battery and started fine... so obvious conclusion it's the manufacturers battery so it needs replacing after 5 years.
I replaced the battery 2 months ago and last week it did it again. Thought it was a faulty battery but it wasn't... had it check at the battery store 12.8V and 10V under load (ie starting)
So this is what I have checked so far:
1. Battery voltage at 12.75V - should be np
2. Thermosensor, checked in place at room temperature - resistance value matches workshop manual
3. Cleaned the ECU connectors by pulling them out and putting them in repeatedly
4. Check current drawn at switch off and it was less than 0.1mA - that should be fine - no battery drain there
5. Checked fault codes from display and by immobilizer flashing light - no code given - just standard flashing
6. Started with both black and red key - both won't start the bike when "HI" is flashing
What I have noted definitely is that after charging the battery the output voltage of the battery will start to decay and after about 5 hrs and at approx 12.6V the "HI" will start flashing and the bike won't start. But this will not happen once the bike is warm. I connected 12.35V battery and it started fine.
I do not want to bias anyone with what I have in mind to do right now so any comments will be GREATLY appreciated.
Thing is I have my planned yearly 2 week long haul trip with the wife starting on this Saturday fortnight so I really want to see the bike running propelty ASAP
