Never seen a Gen II in "the wild". There used to be a Gen I in my town, but no longer and that was years ago. I mostly see 600cc sportbikes and cruisers when I am out and about. We are a rare breed in my area.
Took the cover off the sleeping Fazer and moved her closer to the garage entrance, switching places with the snowblower. Hope not to need that again before next year. Didn't get the tires checked for pressure, but it is almost time to go out for the first ride of the season.
Trying to...
Man, I'm jealous! You are all set without having to go to all the trouble of making the mods. You should have great fun on the bike if the weather ever gets warm again. Enjoy, and post about your impressions when you do get the bike out.
Yeah, but it worked OK with the white bodywork, especially if he'd gone with the retro scheme. I have a 2012, white of course. Sort of bland, so I am open to ideas to make it more interesting.
Yes, in my opinion it is better. I still want to take a break about every hour with the Corbin, which isn't a bad idea anyway. The stock saddle had me hurting after about 30 minutes. But, as one poster said, it is subjective and probably different for each person.
Greetings to Blacklick...
Well, not today, but last weekend I put her away for the winter. Cold weather has arrived here, so I changed the oil/filter, cleaned it up and topped the tank with fuel and Sta-bil. It is on the Battery Tender and covered where it will remain until sometime in April.
Sad thing to have to...
I have a GYTR slip-on. I think it looks great as compared to the stock muffler. I think the GYTR is darn loud, and I wear ear-pro everytime I ride, however I don't have anything to compare it to other than the stock can.
If I were to plan some longer rides, I'd probably go with a Yoshi...
Cleaned her up some and lubed the chain, then removed the Exup motor and installed the exup-eliminator. Also installed a Powerlet to allow me to easily keep her on the Battery Tender and use my BMW heated vest in cold weather.
Welcome to the site and FZ1 ownership! Many, if not most of us, found the stock seat uncomfortable. For me, I got "butt burn" in about 45 minutes. I mounted a Corbin saddle and things are better now. I get about 90 minutes before needing a stint off the bike.
As for performance, coming...
Heated grips. Was missing them greatly on my ride Sunday. Temps. in the low-50's. My last bike, a BMW, had them. A necessary luxury in my opinion. I've got to work on this I think.
My typical cut-off temperature is about 50 degrees. I have gear, including a heated vest, insulated riding coat and insulated gloves, but it just doesn't seem fun below 50 degrees to me. If I feel "cold", I don't seem to react as well to riding challenges.
In fact, I usually put the bike...
I've had a R1150R. The Fazer is a very different bike, even though both are "semi-naked". I'd say the BMW is a better long-distance machine. Mine was more comfortable than is my Fazer, but much more sedate.
Good luck with finding a trade. I wish I had mine back for what I sold it for. Or...
I have the Renthal 16T countershaft sprocket. I noticed "something" after the change, but that something didn't bother me enough to worry about it. The biggest thing I noticed was having to rev the bike more on highway runs, but that has ceased to bother me too. Fazer likes to rev.
Got the bike over 1000 miles, so break-in is finally done. Also adjusted the idle up to around 1200 rpm warm. It had been idling around 900 rpm.
Not sure I'll go "crazy" now that break-in is finished, but I won't have to be concerned with how I run it either.
In the next week or two...
Thanks for posting. Never have done a track day, and don't know if I ever will, but it was interesting to watch some of your video.
Now to go find out where Putnam Park is located...
I think there may be others, but Copperdawg's site has two designs for sale. They are painted to match the color of your bike. You should check it out. He has other cool stuff for your Fazer too.
Good. Thank you. Clockwise until idle is between 1100 and 1300 rpm when fully warm. Got it. The owner's manual gives the proper speed, but not how to adjust. I'm not sure why Yamaha recommends your local shop make this adjustment.
