1000 cc, Why?

Norm, from now on I'll pm you my thoughts and have you right them for me. Wish I could have said it like that. Thanks:cheers:

I am pretty sure Norm could easily seduce me with his words even though I am very much exclusively heterosexual. He has some magical power. :) I just hope he continues to focus his powers for good.

Separate Point: There is a trend in Texas that has me FURIOUS!!!
Interstate Hiways were designed to move things/ people across the country in the fastest manner possible. That is why they were made! I have recently seen sections of Interstate that have a reduced speed limit for the section of road that is in their jurisdiction. LOL That is PURE REVENUE GRABBING!!!!! It goes against the basic principles of mass transit so whatever local government can issue speeding tickets.

I have made the same observations. My wife got a ticket a few years ago in the same situation. Very frustrating especially when there does not seem to be any reason to slow down like residences or businesses.

Just like TPJ was mentioning there is a section in Georgia on route 95 that has come into focus as well. The town powerfully projects its right to enforce a certain speed limit. It has been discovered that this has resulted in huge revenues for the town. Their own congress people however, have threatened to shut them down, which I loved.

What they were enforcing wasn't even ridiculous. They were ticketing anyone over 82 MPH, which actually gave drivers a fair amount of slack, yet it was their motivations, like TPJ stated, that sullied their claim that they were safety motivated.

I wanted a 1000 just to have the power on tap.

There does not need to be a reason. If you want it, get it.
Definitely... I had a 2006 FZ6 that I purchased used in showroom condition, a couple of years later I found a 2006 FZ1 in showroom condition so I purchased it... I wanted it for it's responsiveness, and still love it and still ride it as I'm about to hit 80 Yrs old. Just rode down to Neptune's Net today in Malibu, Ca. for some lunch

Whoa, 13 year old thread revival!? Nice! 👍
Was going to say something, but then i read what a EIGHTY YEAR OLD fz1 rider wrote. I pray i make it to 80(it will be 2050) and if im riding all the better.

Every 80 year old on earth get a pass if they revive a dead thread. The things they have seen and gone thru, and the current bs...give em a pass all day long

Oh, I was not being sarcastic or anything. I love thread revival!

sarcasm doesn't relay well on a screen, unfortunately.

To stay on target...why 1000cc....cause downshifting and revving the piss out of your engine is for kids. Rolling on regardless of gear is for adults. Torque is corruptive.

What rpm is the RGV at when you hit 70? ;)

For me 1000cc is more about power for two up.

To this point, getting fork seals and bushings done on my FZ1, so I've been riding the VFR800 this week. Took just a small bit to remember the "little" 800 just doesn't have the UMPH that the FZ1 does.
Yes, it all it's glory and thunder, the VFR does a good job thru traffic and such, but nothing like the Yamaha. Usually have to downshift to 5th to make some quick lane changes and such, where just a roll of the wrist in 6th gets it done with the Yamerhaw.

Options are good. A literbike is soo easy to ride though.

I don't think much of my FZ1 power, I'm just used to it. I borrowed a friend's R6 for a weekend and was pretty impressed, felt similar to my 'old' FZ1s but the lack of low end torque just required a bit more effort for city riding. Also the 60MPH sixth gear roll on throtttle passing power is still no comparison to the old FZ1.

I also borrowed that same friend's MT-07 and absolutely loved the torque, but that required a LOT more work, shifting a lot. I still love that bike and the CP2 engine, that's an ideal amount of power for my riding - mostly city commuting with some weekend canyon carving. But the suspension... yuck... though I realize out of the box it's not meant for my weight.

Still waiting to sort my FZ1 forks as we found pitting in one of fork legs that is cutting into the oil seal and I'm not comfortable with the Chineseium replacements.
Last few weeks has been on the VFR800 and I'm surely missing the extra HP and torque of me olde Fazer. That along with the lighter weight compared to the Honder.
