My FZ-09 ride report

I went riding today with an FZ-09 rider that was on Gen1 FZ1 prior. The bike sported a Penske shock and Traction Dynamics fork mods. Ergos fit my 5'6" (29 " inseam) very well. I can almost flat foot while strafing the bike. Power is fun and always there in any gear. It has a very light front end feel. Scratch that... It feels like a dirtbike as I was able to flick it SO easy!.

I think I want one. Not to replace my FZ1, bit to give my wife an easy cool bike to ride.

Thanks for the review. All the ride reports sound great which is nice. The build quality is pretty poor for Yamaha, I thought--it would be easy to forgive if it rides as nicely as they say, especially at that price.

I rode one before Christmas and I'm still giggling like a 10 year old with his first porn mag! I'm still thinking about chopping in the genII for one. Never felt that way about a bike before :rolleyes:

I sat on one, this week-end, at my local stealer-ship and immediately saw why people are raving about it. It felt light, narrow and has the ergos of a dirt-bike(with litre-bike powah!)...a perfect recipe for losing my license before summer arrives.

I hope to find one to test ride here.... I have not researched, but what is the expected MPG of these bikes?

It is likely I'll get a dual-purpose first though. I'd like something I can take on/off-road and I'm hunting local for a WR 450 as it seems to be the clear winner for all I want it for.

I would live to try an FZ9 with some upgraded suspension. I love the around town usable torque. I still don't think the styling is anywhere near as cool as some of the naked bikes other manufacturers are putting out. Looks a bit dated. Fit an finish was not quotes as good as I have come to expect from Yam Nikita the price is right for an 'almost' liter bike.

I

The bike I road belongs to Motomania on the other forum. He changed the gearing to make it less wheelie prone. For the street, it has plenty of power and it lays it down nicely. The roads were wet, so I was unable to ride it hard. I actually put in B mode which softens the throttle allowing me to get on the gas way earlier. Motomania also removed all the throttle cable slack along with adjusting the TPS to help with the "jerky throttle". It felt pretty good to me. The whole bike fits me like they designed the ergos for me.

Yamaha needs to make an adventure bike based on this engine.
