Pyro's Twisted Texas Tour '12

Well, here it is. 3rd Annual Pyro's Twisted Texas Hill Country Tour!

Ride Dates: April 13th-16th

The Three Sisters are several connected highways that combine 'twisties' and major elevation changes with West Texas rocky hill country: Our own lil' "Tail of the Rattlesnake", with sheer rocky drop-offs, narrow "mountain" passes, and beautiful have-to-stop vistas. Some parts are very challenging to riding and to the senses.

We'll be riding Friday from Houston, meeting up at Canyon Lake, and heading out West to the Twisted Sisters for a couple of loops on Saturday; staying in the local area that night (arrangements made, see below). Running a different reverse course back to Canyon Lake on Sunday, and back to Houston on Monday.

This is NOT a race. We are out to have a good safe ride, see the sights, ride at your own pace how you like. There are usually many other bikers out there who may need to be passed, only if you want to do so and it's safe please. If riders get separated, we will re-group at intersections, rest-stops, scenic stops.

Those of us coming from Houston will leave Friday morning and stop through Lockhart for Texas' best B-B-Q at Kruez Market

then to the Willow City Loop, then down to Canyon Lake. May or may not have time or energy for a trip down River Road.

Dinner Friday evening 8pm at Daisy Dukes Bar & Grill (2673 @ 306)

Howdy Pyro,

I'm not trying to jack your post but I just ran across this thread today.....I read the reviews on your last ride and wish I'd have been able to make it. Sounded like a blast.

I'm doing a similar 1 day ride this weekend 5/7/2011. About 250 miles. I posted it up a few days ago. If anyone's interested in it let me know. (LINK BELOW)

The only thing I would vote for is to ride 337 an additional time. That was my favorite (and most challenging IMO).

I agree. We need to come in from that side. I forgot the whole time we were there that the stretch between Leaky and Medina was the nicest.

+1 as nice as it is through Ingram along the river 337 is even better. Of course we need to make a side trip to Ingram any way to see mini stone henge. I caught a glimpse on out way in.

LOL
I agree - it is a cool sight. When I was a kid, I went to summer camp at a place called Camp Stewart in Hunt, Tx. It was one of those camps that the kids stayed almost a month and a half. LOL (A nice little break for the parents :) The guy who started the replica was named Al Sheppard and he was a director at that camp. He was a real nice guy and always let people go check out his Stonehenge. Anyway - I have heard that it has changed hands but I'm not sure.

Amazing to see a sight like that and have the Tx hill country in the background. :wow:

I already have it marked and luckily I'm off that whole week so I don't have to burn any time. :D
I invited Lickety Split (John) from the other forum. He is recovering from a wreck on the Arkansas trip so hopefully he will be recovered and up to riding a couple of days.
