Yamaha has updated their website with the 2010 model info:

2010 Yamaha FZ1 Home, information, info

Looks like reprogramed ECU, new colors, blacked-out muffler, heel guards, and foot peg mounts round out the major changes.

They should have made those parts black to begin with, looks much better. I defintiely prefer the gold header pipes on my 08 vs the silver pipes on the 2010.

Why not make the foot pegs black also?

I agree, the black looks much better. I guess the black on the footpegs would probably not hold up as well in everyday use.

Since the pipes are stainless steel they will eventually acquire that golden hue. The ones in these picures have probably not run much yet.

The blacked out can looks good. It's kind of nice to buy a bike and have it stay pretty much the same for several years. Tends to keep the resale value up a bit. Can't quit figure out if the bike is so good it doesn't need any changes or because of the relatively poor sales they just don't want to spend much onminor changes right now.

Canadian News

For 2010 The FZ1 only comes in all Black. No Colour Choices, with the only listed change made to the ecu mapping. Price listed at $13,199. :eyebrow:Also noticed on Yamaha's web site that they discontinued the FZ6. That should make a few people on the sister site unhappy !

I had an FZ6 before I bought my FZ1. I really wasnt happy with the performance of the bike while the ergos are pretty much the same the difference in power is significant. Kinda like buying a GSXR 600 vs. a 1000, I am sure there will always be a market for the 600 bikes, new riders especially being told by those around them that the 600 is a much better place to start than with a liter bike. I am sure there is merit in that advise, however after buying the gsxr 1000 and FZ1 I now kinow the ZZR 600 kawai and FZ6 they replaced are worlds apart. We only changed bikes because some undesignated person (trying to be nice) turned left and drove over my wifes ZZR 600, she saw it coming and believe it or not jumped off the bike before he actually drove over the bike. She broke her tail bone and had a few minor fractures. We decided to trade both 600's in and get the 1000's and are very happy with that decision. Not interested in ever owning a 600 again, no need to have one. Love my FZ1.
