2016 MotoGP Discussion Thread *SPOILERS*

Watched the Formula 1 race in Japan last weekend. At one point they mentioned Lorenzo drove a F1 car on the track earlier in the week and by their accounts he did quite well which is no easy feat. It'll be interesting to see what he can do with the Duc next year.

Gotta feel for the guy. :(

Laverty also had a big highside and went for a tumble but he seems to be ok.

Geez, that was a nail biter & a crash-fest. Marquez is 2016 WC! The guy is just incredible, isn't he?

Does that mean Marquez can shelve his measured, mature riding for the rest of the season? :stunta]:

Who wants to see Mike Jones get a factory ride after that heroic weekend?

Very impressed with Smith and Lorenzo for riding full race distance despite being in tremendous pain. These guys are tough as all hell!

Congrats to Marquez where credit is due, but what an awful way to win... because two opponents crashed out... Not that there was any real chance of anyone else taking the championship away from him. With all the rider changes in the GP Class I am really looking forward to seeing what 2017 has in store for us.

I'm looking forward to the race this weekend at the Island, just need to get rid of this rotten cold. I don't want to be sitting at the top of the stands in Siberia feeling like I do now. Hopefully it will be as entertaining as last years race - Look out seagulls! Hopefully the wallabies stay in the scrub this year, there's usually one that hops through between practice sessions.

Congrats to Marquez where credit is due, but what an awful way to win....

Not really awful at all, it's part of racing. VR and JL both were pushing hard which caused their crashes but they were chasing MM. MM was in the lead and pulling away from them. If he didn't win the championship in Japan he may have clinched it in PI.

What was awful was watching both VR and JL crash along with a whole bunch of others.

I agree OldBiker, MM didn't win because VR and JL crashed. He won because he was the best rider on the day. I don't like seeing guys crash but it does remind us how close to the edge these guys push it which adds to the excitement. These guys have been fighting hard all season and MM kept it together on the day. A well deserved championship win. Also pleased that VR and JL were unhurt and will be back in the fray at PI. PI should be sensational!!

So Aussie Mike Jones is set to ride the Avintia Ducati again this week as Barbera is still covering for the injured Iannone. What can you Aussies tell us about him? He has certainly been impressive so far and I'm excited to see how he performs with some experience on a MotoGP bike at a circuit he has actually ridden before.

No word on who's going to replace Pedrosa. Perhaps Honda will just go with Aoyama who can collect a few points for them around at the back of the pack. Boring. :(
