well, I just want to be as safe as possible; So basically you think there is no need for one on the FZ1 ?Why? This never struck me as an important mod for the FZ1 based on what I've read from the blokes here.

Never experienced head shake 2008 gen 2,forks are rised 12mm through T/ Tree & standard 17-190-50 rear tyre, plenty of other things to spend your money on, unless you are doing alot of track time.I can't say from experience as I've never owned your generation of FZ1, only the 01-05. It certainly seems to be a sweeping consensus on the forum that they are not necessary for the bike in stock trim.
It depends on your bike setup. Stock is very stable. If you are dropping the front in any way and raising the rear along with it, it's a great safety feature to have. I'm 1" up on the rear and 1/2" lower in the front. She can be unsettled if I lift coming out of the corner and don't land perfectly straight... but with the GPR installed, I don't even think about it any more.
That is pretty nifty. That isn't adjustable though is it?
I took the cheapskate route.
Take one 2nd hand R1 damper for $25, buy a fork clamp from china $20 (54mm on the GenII). Make a triangular plate, drill 3 holes for 3 bushes and bolt it under the steering stem/above the radiator (remove the two existing bolts) and fit it up there...
AN OEM damper kit for under $50!
