Well I've lurked for a while here on the site, and actually responded in a thread earlier and realized it was my first post, lol. Anyhow, I figured I should introduce myself and throw up a few pics of the bike (everybody likes pictures).

I am the 2nd owner of the Fazer, an '11 that had about 4,500 miles on the clock when I bought it from a guy that just wanted out of the loan he had on the bike. I gave him $7,500 to pay off his loan, and he was happy to be able to go out and get a Harley with a seat that his wife would feel comfortable on. My wife doesn't do bikes - at all - so I don't have that problem.

That was back in February, and the bike now has 13K + miles and has been to both Cali and Key West, plus some places in between.

I've recently added V35's and SW-Motech mounts to her, but have yet to test them out.

This is my third bike, having stepped from a Ninja 250 to a SV650S, to the Fazer over a 6 year period.

And without further delay ... Pictures!

My first test ride - I bought the bike a coupla days later

And promptly mounted fresh rubber

Soft bags probably aren't gonna be ideal with the shape of that tail

Her first long trip - Houston to Key West

On the way to Cali a week later

Got a fresh rear mounted in San Diego

And now with hard bags!

Together with my around town and hopefully one day track bike, the SV650S

:welcome:

Welcome to the forum! Nice bike, and I'm sure you have some great travelling stories from your trips. I've crossed off Lubec, Maine from my "four extremes" list. Eventually, I'll Key West and the others!

:welcome: and congrats on the FZ. Sweet setup you have and already traveling to all points. Thanks for sharing and becoming an active member!

Thanks all for the kind welcomes so far.

Yeah, I have been getting a fair amount of use out of her - and don't plan on stopping anytime soon!

And as for the extra width with the V35's ... Yeah, I'm not looking forward to that. That is going to SEVERELY limit my ability to 'lane share' with all the other fine motorists on the road. I'm fairly well certain that I will only be using the bags for out of town trips and during times of low traffic volume when I'm home. I like my bikes nimble and slim.

LOVE to go across the USA and into Canada on mine

Welcome Texas!

Green with envy over your cross-country rides.

I only have a tank bag, so taller windshield, soft bags and a ThrottleMeister are my next investments for a long trip.

Don't be green ... Just go!
:D

I have never used a ThrottleMeister, but my amigo with a 'Busa has one and I think it works ok for him. As for the touring windshield, I think you can get by without it, but I know everyone's comfort level is different. And who knows, if I ever try out a tall windshield, I may never go back to the stock one!

As far as the bags go, yeah soft bags are nice because you can switch them from bike to bike, they are kind of a universal fit. The rain covers that I had with my previous Cortech soft bags didn't make the whole trip when I did Cali in 2012. I was on the road for 16 days, camping and the whole bit. The bags themselves did well, but the rain covers started to rip due to flapping around in the wind. Once they got wet, their destruction hastened.

Still up for this year are The Dragon (sigh, I was supposed to be there RIGHT NOW, with all my Integra buddies - but home issues scuttled my trip) in a few weeks, and Colorado for the Firefighter Memorial in September. I have never been to Colorado, so looking forward to that one. And for next year ... ALASKA! (Plus the usual trip to Cali in May)

EDIT: Oh, and I meant to say, that's a good looking bike! The red on gold looks GREAT! Before I saw mine on CL, I was actually looking for a black on gold.
